Crafting this feathery snowy owl is a hoot! Take flight with all the fun facts you’ll learn about this Arctic bird.

  • Tundra Trekkers: Snowy owls blend into their treeless, snowy environment because of their white feathers. However, males become whiter with age, while females keep their brown markings.
  • Owl Always Love You: Did you know that snowy owls usually mate for life?! There are plenty of other animals that have one true love, like penguins, gray wolves, and bald eagles. List out more animals with your class and see if any of them live in the same Arctic environment as the snowy owl.

Snowy owls aren’t the only ones that use their environment to their advantage — arctic foxes’ white fur also disguises them in the snow! As a class, watch the two animals camouflage in the tundra as they claim their territory.
