Whale Bead Pet

Weave cords around plastic beads in a specific pattern to create a whale design!
Materials
- Plastic Beads Pearls and Bicone Mix
- Craft Glue
- Scissors
Instructions
Step 1. Gather your supplies. | |
Step 2. Cut pink Braiding Cord to 6o inches in length. Stiffen both ends by rolling it between your finger with a dab of craft glue. Allow glue to dry. This will help when threading the beads. | |
Step 3. Create a lark knot on the key ring. To learn how to create a lark knot, click here. | |
Step 4. Start by threading (1) small pearl bead onto both strings, push up to the keyring. | |
Step 5. Thread (1) large pearl bead onto both strings, push up to make tight, as shown. | |
Step 6. To create Row 1 of the Whale’s body, thread (3) blue beads onto the left hand string. | |
Step 7. Take your right hand string and lace back through the beads from the other end. | |
Step 8. Pull cords tight to form this row of your Whale Bead Pet. | |
Step 9. To create Row 2, thread (5) blue beads onto the left hand string. Repeat steps 7 and 8 to create Row 2. | |
Step 10. To create Row 3, thread (7) blue beads onto the left hand string. Repeat steps 7 and 8 to create Row 3. | |
Step 11. To create Row 4, thread the following through the left hand string: (4) blue, (1) black, (1) blue, (1) black, and (1) blue. The black beads shown here are the Whale’s eyes. Repeat steps 7 and 8 to create Row 4. | |
Step 12. To create Row 5, thread the following through the left hand string: (5) blue, and (4) pink beads. The black beads shown here are the Whale’s mouth. Repeat steps 7 and 8 to create Row 5. | |
Step 13. To create the top of the tail, Thread (2) blue beads onto the left hand string. | |
Step 14. Take the end of the same left hand string and thread it back through the first blue bead. | |
Step 15. To create Row 6, thread (11) blue beads onto the left hand string. Repeat steps 7 and 8 to create Row 6. | |
Step 16. Repeat steps 13-14 to create the bottom of the tail. | |
Step 17. To create Row 7, thread (11) blue beads onto the left hand string. Repeat steps 7 and 8 to create Row 7. | |
Step 18. To secure your key chain, tie a tight double knot at the end of each cord, making sure the knots are snug against the beads. Trim excess thread with scissors. |
