Instructions

Step 1. Gather your supplies.

Step 2.

Take (4) Craft Sticks and make a square. Use glue to secure.

Step 3.

Take (12) additional Craft Sticks and fill in your square, using glue to secure.

Step 4.

Repeat Step 3 for a total of (5) Craft Stick squares.

Step 5.

Take (1) square to use as your base. Glue a second square at a right angle to your first square.

Step 6.

Repeat Step 5 with (3) additional squares. Tip: as you glue each side add a piece of masking tape to hold the pieces together until the glue dries.

Step 7.

To hide gaps between the joints of your box, glue additional Craft Sticks on the outside of the box along the joints.

Step 8.

To make the box lid, make a (6th) square following Step 3. Glue (2) additional Craft Sticks to the inside of the square frame, as shown.

Step 9.

Glue Craft Sticks horizontally along each side of your box top. Allow all parts to dry thoroughly.

Step 10.

To create the hinge, thread (6) Pony Beads through a Glitter Stick. Center the beads along the middle of the box lid. Make a pencil mark on the bottom edge of the first (2) beads, a second pencil mark along the top edge of the second (2) beads and a final pencil mark on the bottom of the last (2) beads.

Step 11.

Add glue along the pencil marks. To secure the hinge, the first two and final two Pony beads will be glued to the actual box while the middle two beads will be glued to the box top. Tip: secure the ends of the Glitter Sticks with masking tape to allow for the glue to dry.

Step 12.

Once the glue is dry, cut the Glitter Stick so that there is 1/2 inch on each end of the Pony Beads. Roll the Glitter Stick in on each side to form tight coils.

Step 13.

Sketch out images on each side of your box and paint. Tip: If you are making this project with a young child take turns drawing and painting the sides.

Step 14.

Use Glitter Glue to outline some shapes or words.

Step 15.

Add one last sparkling touch to your box, by gluing on Acrylic Jewels. Once dry, discuss New Year’s Resolutions with your family or your class and have everyone put a goal, resolution or wish inside the box. Then open the box the following year and see if everyone followed through with their resolutions.
