Materials
- 25 Pack Assorted Paint Brushes
- Rainbow Fuzzy Sticks
- Acrylic Paint Jars Primary
- Craft Sticks 150 Pack
- Scissors
- Craft Glue
- Foam Sheet (white)
- Cardboard Tube
Instructions
Step 1. Gather your materials.
Step 2. Cut a cardboard tube into a 3 inch piece, 2 inch piece and a 1 inch piece.
Step 3. Cut the 2 inch piece length wise, as shown.
Step 4. Slightly overlap the edges of this roll and tape or glue to secure. Once dry, insert this 2 inch piece into the 3 inch piece. The roll should now be able to snugly fit inside the larger roll.
Step 5. Glue your 1 inch piece to the back of the 3 inch piece to form a handle. Glue a craft stick inside the 2-inch piece of cardboard, this will work as a lever.
Step 6. Decorate your puppet piece. To create the bee, we used yellow and black paint.
Step 7. To make the mouth, attach the 2 inch piece to a craft stick and paint it the same body color. To create the mouth, use a pencil to draw a large oval shape on both pieces, as shown.
Step 8. Paint this area using black acrylic paint.
Step 9. Fold as yellow fuzzy stick in half and glue to a glitter pom to create antennae.
Step 10. Glue inside the top of cardboard head. Decorate the front of the bee with more poms and wiggly eyes.
Step 11. Cut a set of wings from a foam sheet and attach to the back of the puppet.
Step 12. Now put one hand in the handle of the puppet and use your other hand to manipulate the craft stick to move your puppet’s mouth so that it looks like your puppet is speaking! For more ideas on making this and other recycled puppets, watch our Video! |
