Materials

  • Fine Glitter

  • Clear Glue

  • Hot Water *Adult Supervision Recommended.

  • Large Water Bottle or Mason Jar with Lid

Explore your students’ senses and emotions with their own rainbow sensory bottles!

  • Fill the Rainbow: Add more sparkle and shine into the sensory bottles! Pour in gemstones or rainbow beads to fill their bottles with auditory and tactile senses — the rattle creates a unique sound and feel for your students to connect with.
  • Feel the Rainbow: Use all the sensory bottle colors in your classroom to help students identify their feelings by labeling each one with a different emotion! Check-in with your students and ask them to choose the colored bottle that best represents how they feel. Reward them with a sticker or extra recess time if they create a little dance to go with their emotion as they shake the bottle!

Emotions can be overwhelming for early learners, but calm-down jars/bottles can keep them grounded. If a student feels anxious, ask them to shake their sensory bottle and focus on the sparkle and vibrations — then, place it on a surface and use the falling glitter as a center of attention to practice deep breaths. Or, follow a simple breathing technique with the entire class to regulate their energy and feelings throughout the day!
