- Acrylic Paint Jars, 24 Assorted colors
- Plaster of Paris 4 lb.
- Craft Sticks 150 Pack
- Jumbo Craft Sticks
- Measuring Cup
- Heavy Duty Scissors ** May require adult assitance
- Clear Tape
- Small empty juice carton
- Container (large enough to hold the juice carton)
Step 1. Gather your supplies.
Have an Adult use the heavy duty scissors to cut the bottom off the juice carton.
Tape the top of the juice container closed, to ensure it doesn’t open when you pour the plaster.
Have an adult use the heavy duty scissors to make a slit in middle of one side of the juice carton. Slide a Wood Craft Stick into the slit in the juice carton, as shown. This will create the perch for the outside of the birdhouse.
Place your juice carton upside down in your container. Mix the Plaster of Paris and pour into the juice carton. To learn about the Basics of Plaster of Paris, click here.
Let the plaster set overnight. Carefully rip the carton to remove it from the plaster. You will be left with plaster in the shape of a little birdhouse with a perch.
Decorate your birdhouse. Paint a large circle above the perch in black paint. This will make it look like the birdhouse has an opening in it.
