Patriotic Coffee Filter Wreath

Use a paper plate and some coffee filters to create a festive firework wreath for the 4th of July! In this project we'll show you two different techniques for blending colors on coffee filters!
Materials
- Neon Fuzzy Sticks
- Rainbow Fuzzy Sticks
- Paint Dab Markers
- Scissors
- Hot Glue Gun ***May Require Adult Assistance
- Large Paper Plate
- Coffee Filters
- Dropper
Instructions
Step 1. Gather your supplies.

In the first technique, start by dampening a coffee filter and place on a paper plate. |

| Step 3.
Dot blue and red paint dab markers all over the coffee filter until you’re happy with how it looks. You can see the colors bleed a little into each other. |

In the second technique, dot red and blue paint dab markers all over a dry coffee filter. |

| Step 5.
Use a dropped to make the colors bleed. We found this technique worked better for a tie dye effect. |

| Step 6.
This is what the filters look like dry! The red and blue one was made with the dropper and the red, white and blue one was dampened first. |

| Step 7.
Once the filters are dry, cut slits about 3/4 of the way to the middle. |

| Step 8.
Fold the filters in half. |

Fold in half again. |

| Step 10.
Twist the bottom point so the filter flairs out. Set aside. |

| Step 11.
Cut out the center of the paper plate. |

| Step 12.
Wrap fuzzy sticks around the rim of the plate: red, white, blue, red, white, blue, etc. |

When the rim is covered, glue on the coffee filter “fireworks”. |
