Instructions

Step 1. Gather your supplies.

Step 2.

Click the “template” button under the picture of this project in order to download, print, and cut out the leprechaun pieces, as shown.

Step 3.

Place the hat template on a piece of green construction paper, trace and cut out the shape.

Step 4.

Repeat step 4 with the other template pieces.  The rectangle should be black. The beard and hands should be orange.

Step 5.

Paint the paper bag and let dry. We used a tan, skin color for the bottom of the bag (which will be the face) and a green for the side (which will be the body).

Step 6.

To finish the hat, first glue the black rectangle to the green shape. Bend a gold Shimmer Stick into the shape of a buckle and cut off any extra material.

Step 7.

Glue the buckle to the hat and then glue the hat and beard to the paper bag, as shown.

Step 8.

To create the arms, cut 4 long strips of green construction paper.

Step 9.

Tape the ends of 2 strips together to form a right angle.

Step 10.

Fold the left side over the right side, as shown.

Step 11.

Continue folding the left side back over the right. This will create an accordion fold.

Step 12.

When the folding is complete, tape the ends together, this will be one of the arms for the puppet.

Step 13.

Glue the hand onto the end of the arm. Repeat steps 9-12 to make the 2nd arm.

Step 14.

Glue the arms to the puppet.

Step 15.

Finish the puppet by adding Wiggly Eyes, orange Poms to the beard, and Shimmer Poms to the body. Use the marker to give the puppet a face.
