Step 2.

Draw your butterfly template or download our design by clicking the “template” button and print onto card stock. Use a pencil to lightly label the colors you want to use in your painting. For example, lightly write a “Y” where you want to add the yellow Glitter or “P” where you want to add pink Glitter.

Step 3.

Use a Paint Brush to brush glue onto one area of the butterfly. We started with the outer edge on one half of the butterfly. Tip: be sure to apply lots of glue and make sure the glue gets around all the edges.  It’s okay if the glitter goes over the edges a little.

Sprinkle the Glitter over the glued area. You can apply lots of glitter to make sure that everything is covered.

Step 6.

Fold the scrap paper to make a funnel, and gently shake the glitter back into the container. Tip: you might have areas where the glitter didn’t stick. You can touch up these areas with the glue and reapply the glitter.

Step 7.

Repeat Steps 3-6 to cover all areas of your butterfly painting and set aside to dry.

Step 8.

Use Glitter Glue to outline the butterfly, the antennas and the words. The Glitter Glue will create a nice finish to the picture and will cover any gaps or uneven that you had in the Glitter. Once dry, put in a frame or give to mom as a gift! To see this technique in action, watch our video tutorial!
