KNOTS: How To Make A Square Knot
Make this knot by creating alternate knots over center base strands.
- Natural Braiding Cord
- Friendship Thread Basic Colors
- Friendship Thread Brights & Neon
- Friendship Thread Mega Pack
Step 1. Gather your supplies.
Cut (2) pieces of cord to the desired length. (Recommended lengths: Bracelets 7 ½ feet, Choker Necklace 15 feet, anklet 10 feet.) Fold the strands in half and tie the folded ends into one knot with a small loop. Now you have one big knot and 4 strands of cord.
Clip knot under clip of clipboard in order to secure the bracelet for crafting. Separate the four strands. Pull the two center base strands straight down and leave the left and right strands loose.
You will now create a spiral knot, a basic knot. Take the left strand and cross over the center base strands, leaving a loop.
Take the end of this same left strand and pass under the center base strands.
Pull this same left strand through the loop created in step 4.
Pull right and left strands to tighten.
This is a spiral knot. To make a square knot, you will repeat the steps above for a spiral knot using the right strand.
Take the right hand strand and cross over the center base strands, leaving a loop.
Take the end of this same right hand strand and pass under the center base strands and through the loop created in step 8.
Pull right and left strands to tighten. You have just made your first square knot!
Repeat these steps to create the length you desire!
