Pot Holder Purse
Learn how to create a mini purse design using three pot holders made with a Weaving Loom.
- Made by Me™ Weaving Loom
Step 1. Gather your supplies.
Create 3 potholders using the weaving loom. Click here to learn how.
Stack 2 finished potholders on top of one another.
Take one craft loop and cut it open so it makes one long string.
You will use this cut loop to secure the purse closed. Use this cut loop and tie around the top corners the stacked pot holders. Weave within the crocheted edges and tie a knot to secure.
Thread the cut loop down one side of the purse, weaving between the crocheted edges on both pot holders.
Continue to weave this cut loop around the purse edges as far as you can go. Make sure to leave a small amount at the end to knot it together to secure. Tip: Do you best to hide the knot inside the purse.
Cut another loop and continue weaving around 3 sides of the stacked potholders to create a small pocket. Do you best to hide the knots inside the purse when tying them off. You should now have 2 potholders stacked together and secure on 3 sides.
Lay the third finished potholder by the open end of the pocket formed. Cut another loop and repeat the same weaving method to secure the third potholder to the top of the pocket, making sure to only secure it to one potholder. This third potholder will become a fold over flap to the purse.
You will make the handle of the purse using 14 loops. To start, stack 2 loops of one color together next to 2 loops of another.
Pull one set of loops through the other, then back through the first loop. This is similar to the lark knot method we teach here.
Pull tight and you should now have 2 loops connected to one another, as shown.
Repeat steps 10 – 12 with 5 other sets of double loops. This should form the chain you see here.
Attach the handle by tying a knot with each of the open pieces of the loops on the end, as shown.
For an extra embellishment, thread a loop through the front flap of the purse and tie a bow. Your pot holder purse is now complete!
