  • Canning jar with lid

  • Iron ** Adult Supervision Required
  • Glycerin ** Adult Supervision Required

Instructions

First, make a Halloween character using Melty Beads. We chose the Frankenstein design shown here!

Next, follow the steps from the Winter Snow Globe to create your Goo Globe. Switch out the Silver Glitter for Green Glitter to keep the Halloween theme!

Don’t forget to decorate the outside of the jar! Wrap Black and Orange Fuzzy Sticks around the lid. Or create a fuzzy spider which we introduced on our Halloween Mobile here.

Explore sight, sound, and touch, with a one-of-a-kind, ooey-gooey globe! Then, use this craft to create some calm in the classroom with a short meditation exercise!

  • Measuring the Fun: This project requires certain measurements to create the sparkly liquid inside the jar. Introduce your students to measuring cups and tablespoons — how math is used to create this globe? Ask your students to think about other activities that require measuring utensils and math (cooking, science experiments, etc.)!
  • Shake Up The Senses: After embellishing the outsides of their goo globes, invite your students to get in touch with their senses! Explore your craft materials’ textures and prompt them with questions like: What sound does the fuzzy stick make when you brush against it? How does the foam feel against your hand? Does the glitter inside fall fast or slow?

Get rid of the heebie-jeebies! When your students are feeling stressed or anxious, have them shake the globe for a few seconds, place it on a flat surface, and focus on breathing while they watch the glitter float until it all reaches the bottom of the globe. This activity is a form of meditation — it can be practiced alone or in a group, so try it as a class!
