Step 1. Gather your supplies.
Remove the handles from all of the gift bags.
Cut a light brown fuzzy stick in half. Create half circles for the lion’s ears and glue them to the back of a small gold gift bag.
Glue a dark brown pom and two wiggly eyes to the front (side with the flap) of the small gold gift bag.
Download, print and cut out the provided template. To download the template, click the “Template” button above. Be sure to cut along the dotted line as well as the outside lines of the lion’s mane.
Lift the flap of the gift bag and glue on the smaller half of the lion’s mane.
Flip the bag over and glue the larger half of the lion’s mane to the back. Make sure the bottom of the mane is lined up with the top of the mane.
Tear up pieces of yellow and orange tissue paper. Crumple them and glue them to the mane template until it is completely covered.
Cut a white fuzzy stick in half and fold as shown to create two teeth for the lion.
Lift up the flap of the bag and glue on the white fuzzy stick “teeth”.
Set aside the lion puppet to dry. Grab a silver gift bag to create an elephant!
Put together (2) silver fuzzy sticks and form a backwards “3”, as shown. Put together (2) more silver fuzzy sticks and form a regular “3” for the other side.
On the back of the bag (the side without the flap), glue the silver fuzzy sticks to each side.
Wrap another silver fuzzy stick around your finger to create the elephant’s trunk.
Glue the curled silver fuzzy stick and two eyes onto the flap of the gift bag.
For the inside of the elephant’s ear use (2) pink fuzzy sticks and create a regular “3” and a backwards “3”.
Flip over the bag and glue the pink fuzzy sticks inside of the silver fuzzy sticks as shown.
Set aside the elephant puppet to dry and grab a lime green gift bag for a frog puppet!
Glue on (2) large lime green poms to the top of the flap.
Glue a wiggly eye onto each pom.
Form an accordion shape using half of a fuzzy stick.
Curl the end of the other half of the fuzzy stick.
Lift the flap and glue the red fuzzy stick underneath for the frog’s tongue.
Wear your puppets during story time or for imaginary play for hours of fun!
