Step 1. Gather your supplies.
|

Step 2. Fold (2) different colored Fuzzy Sticks in half and twist together to create a loop. We used pink and blue.

Step 3. Pull the (2) blue Fuzzy Sticks up and out on each side. Do the same on the bottom with the pink sticks. It almost looks like a person!

Step 4. Twist one end of a white Fuzzy Stick around the end of the blue Fuzzy Stick arm to connect the pieces. Wrap this white Fuzzy Stick around the middle of the butterfly body once as shown.

Step 5. Attach the end to the left pink Fuzzy Stick to create one half of the butterfly’s wings.

Step 6. Repeat Steps 4-5 on the right side of your butterfly. Tip: If you are making this project with young children, you might hand out a few additional Fuzzy Sticks to wrap around the wings and finish the project. If you are making this project with slightly older children (7 +) you can consider covering the wings with tissue paper. (See below).

Step 7. To add tissue paper to your butterfly wings, use a piece of aluminum foil for your work surface. (The shiny side should be face down so the glue doesn’t stick). Cut a piece of tissue paper that is larger than your wings. Using a Foam Brush, apply the decoupage glue to the tissue paper.

Step 8. Place one wing of your butterfly on the tissue paper.

Step 9. Start with one side of the tissue paper and gently fold it over the wing. Tissue paper becomes very fragile when covered with decoupage glue. If it rips, don’t panic, you can add more tissue paper to cover the rips.

Step 10. Fold the other side over.

Step 11. Add a little decoupage glue to the wing. Tip: Don’t brush the glue but instead gently dab with your paint brush.

Step 12. Fold the rest of the tissue paper into the wing.

Step 13. If you have any rips in the tissue paper, cut a small piece of tissue paper, add a little more decoupage glue and and apply the tissue over the rips. Repeat steps 7-13 to cover your entire butterfly. When the decoupage glue is dry, the wings will be hard and shiny. You can bend the wings slightly upward.

Step 14. Decorate your butterfly. Add Acrylic Jewels or create heart icons using piece of Fuzzy Sticks.
