Instructions
Step 1. Gather your supplies.
Step 2. Wrap the foam craft sticks around your wrist to see if it fits. If it does, skip Steps 2-4. If not, see how much more craft stick you need to fit around your wrist. We needed about 2″ from a second craft stick in order to make them long enough.
Step 3. Glue the additional piece of foam craft stick to the end of a full craft stick.
Step 4. To secure these two pieces together, stitch around the edges using friendship thread that is the same color as the craft stick. An overcast stitch should do the trick.
Step 5. On the other end of the foam craft stick cut a cross in the middle by folding the craft stick in half length and width wise and snipping just a little. This will be the button hole for closure.
Step 6. Place a button at the other end (the sewn end) in the middle of the craft stick. Sew through the holes to attach.
Step 7. Place a sequin on the edge of the craft foam and the button. Thread the needle, tie a knot on one end of the friendship thread and poke through from the back to front.
Step 8. Pull all the way through. This is what the knot looks like on the back.
Step 9. Then, poke the needle from front to back, as close to the edge of the sequin as you can be.
Step 10. Place a sequin overlapping the stitch you just made, as close to the first sequin as possible, without covering the hole.
Step 11. Repeat Steps 7-9.
Step 12. Keep sewing on sequins until you get about an inch away from the end. For this last sequin, instead of threading forward, you will thread to the other side as shown.
Step 13. Line up a sequin with the last sequin on the completed side and sew on.
Step 14. Continue adding sequins until both sides are equal. |
