Beaded Cross Key Chain

Show your faith and create this cross key chain clip with just a few Pony Beads and some simple weaving patterns!

Materials


  • Hemp Cord
  • White Pony Beads
  • Craft Glue
  • Scissors
  • Key Chain Clip

Instructions


Step 1. Gather your supplies.

 

 

Step 2.

 

Cut white Hemp Cord to 60 inches in length. Stiffen both ends by rolling it between your fingers with a dab of craft glue. Allow glue to dry. This will help when threading the beads.

 

Step 3.

 

Create a lark knot on the key ring. To learn how to create a lark knot, click here.

 

Step 4.

 

To create Row 1, thread (4) pearl white Pony Beads onto the left hand string.

 

Step 5.

 

Take your right hand string and thread back through beads that you just strung on your left hand side.

 

Step 6.

 

Pull cords tight to form Row 1 of your Cross Key Chain.

 

Step 7.

 

To create Row 2, thread the following through the left hand string: (1) pearl white, (2) yellow, and (1) pearl white bead.

 

Step 8.

 

Repeat Steps 5 and 6 to create Row 2.

 

Step 9.

 

To create Row 3, thread the following through the left hand string: (3) pearl white, (2) yellow, (3) pearl white beads. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 to complete the row.

 

Step 10.

 

To create Row 4, thread the following through the left hand string: (1) pearl white, (6) yellow, (1) pearl white bead. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 to complete the row.

 

Step 11.

 

Repeat Step 10 to make a duplicate row.

 

Step 12.

 

To create Row 6, thread the following through the left hand string: (3) pearl white, (2) yellow, (3) pearl white beads. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 to complete the row.

 

Step 13.

 

To create Rows 7-11, use the following pattern: (1) pearl white, (2) yellow, (1) pearl white bead and repeat Steps 5 and 6 to complete each row.

 

Step 14.

 

To create Row 12, thread the following through the left hand string: (4) pearl white beads. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 to tighten the row.

 

Step 15.

 

To secure your key chain, tie a tight double knot at the end of the cord, making sure the knot is snug against the beads.

 

Step 16.

 

Repeat the knot on both sides. Cut off excess cord.

 

Step 17.

 

You have now made a Cross Bead Key Chain, starting from the top to the bottom. Clip onto your backpack or belt loop!
