Coffee Filter Owl

Create a feathery fun owl puppet from coffee filters!
Materials
- Feathers Brown
- Watercolor Paint Palette
- Wiggly Eyes 25mm
- Hot Glue Gun ***May Require Adult Assistance
- Craft Glue
- Scissors
- 6 Coffee Filters
- Yellow Craft Foam
Instructions
Step 1. Gather your supplies. | |
Step 2. Fold 4 coffee filters in quarters. | |
Step 3. Using 2 of the coffee filters, slide one half into the other half, as shown. | |
Step 4. Glue together. Make sure there is space between the top points of the coffee filters. | |
Step 5. Glue the remaining coffee filters together, as shown. | |
Step 6. Glue the coffee filters from Steps 3 & 4 on top of the coffee filters from Step 5. | |
Step 7. Fold two more coffee filters in half one time. Glue together as shown to create the owl’s wings. | |
Step 8. Glue the wings to the back of the owl’s body. | |
Step 9. Paint the owl brown. | |
Step 10. Cut two circles, about 2″ across from yellow craft foam. | |
Step 11. Glue a large wiggly eye in the middle of both circles. | |
Step 12. Glue the eyes onto the owl’s head. | |
Step 13. Cover the owl’s wings in brown feathers. | |
Step 14. Cover the bottom coffee filter and the sides of the middle filter with brown feathers. Leave space in the middle for neon feathers. | |
Step 15. Fill in the owl’s chest with neon feathers. We chose to use only pink, yellow and green. | |
Step 16. Cover the owl’s face in brown feathers. Make sure you don’t cover the yellow foam completely! | |
Step 17. Cut out a small diamond from yellow craft foam, for the owl’s beak. | |
Step 18. Glue only the bottom half of the diamond to the owl’s face. | |
Step 19. Fold over the top half of the diamond and glue the tip of the top half to the tip of the bottom half, to create a 3D beak. |
