Christmas Tree Ornament

Recycle cardboard tubes to make a cute Christmas tree shaped ornament.
Materials
- Bucket of Bling
- 2 Large Cardboard Tubes
- Craft Glue
- Scissors
- Hole Punch
- Wax Paper
Instructions
Step 1. Gather your supplies.
Step 2. Cut (1) cardboard tube in half.
Step 3. On one half of the tube, cut slits around the bottom, about 2″ deep and 1″ apart.
Step 4. Gently roll the cut slits up as far as they go, as shown.
Step 5. On the top of the tube, cut slits about 1” deep and 1” apart.
Step 6. Gently fold the slits together. This will make the top of the tube become narrower.
Step 7. Repeat Steps 3-6 with the second half of the cardboard tube. Insert the top of the 1st tube into the bottom of the 2nd tube, as shown. Because you made the top of the 1st tube narrow, it should fit snuggly into the 2nd tube.
Step 8. Cut the 2nd large cardboard tube in half. Repeats Steps 3-5 with one half of the tube. Do not cut slits in the top of the tube. Insert the pieces from Step 7 into the bottom of the tube. Flatten the top of the tube as shown, your tree shape is now complete.
Step 9. Place the assembled tree on a wax paper covered surface. Using Simply Spray® Green Project Paint, spray one even coat of paint on the tree. Begin and end spraying off the project to prevent splatter. Let the paint dry approximately 30 minutes and repeat with one more coat of spray, if needed.
Step 10. Punch a hole in each side of the top of the tree.
Step 11. String a piece of yellow cording through the holes for hanging.
Step 12. Cover the holes by gluing a large star burst acrylic jewel to each side.
Step 13. Finish decorating the tree with shimmer poms and acrylic jewels. |
