Cardboard Tube Soldier

Recycle an ordinary cardboard tube and turn it into a wooden soldier! Make multiple soldiers to place around the Christmas Tree.
Materials
- Acrylic Jewels Assorted 9mm
- 25 Pack Assorted Paint Brushes
- Feathers White
- Rainbow Fuzzy Sticks
- Acrylic Paint Jars, 24 Assorted colors
- Rainbow Poms Assorted Sizes, 100 pieces
- 1 Large Cardboard Tube
- Craft Glue
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Blue Foam Sheet
- White Paper
Instructions
Step 1. Gather your supplies. | |
Step 2. Cut approximately 2” from one end of the cardboard tube. | |
Step 3. Starting from one end of the cardboard tube, paint 1/3 Blue, 1/3 Red, and then about ½ of the remainder, tan mixed with white. Leave the last bit of the tube unpainted. Paint (2) clothespins red and blue, and leave the tops unpainted, as shown. Let everything dry. | |
Step 4. Download, print and cut out the template for the hat. To download the template, click the “Template” button above. | |
Step 5. Place the template on the blue foam and trace with a pencil. | |
Step 6. Cut out the blue foam piece and glue around the cardboard tube, as shown, to form the hat. | |
Step 7. Decorate the hat with a yellow fuzzy stick, white feather, an acrylic jewel and small white poms. | |
Step 8. Glue the painted clothespins on the soldier’s body to make arms. | |
Step 9. Decorate the body with a white fuzzy stick and some yellow poms. | |
Step 10. To complete your soldier, glue on wiggly eyes. Add a face, hair and other details with black paint. |
