Instructions

Step 1. Gather your supplies.

Step 2.

Paint (2) jumbo wood sticks white. These will be the top and bottom of the 12 Days of Christmas ladder. Let dry.

Step 3.

Write out “12 DAYS OF” on one painted white stick and “CHRISTMAS” on the other white stick in foam glitter letter stickers.

Step 4.

Print and cut out the provided template. To download the template, click the “Template” button above.

Step 5.

Once cut out, glue each “day” to a wood stick. This will total to (12) wood sticks.

Step 6.

Cut (2) 36” pieces of red, green and white friendship thread. Split into (2) groups of (3). Each group should have (1) red piece of thread, (1) green piece of thread and (1) white piece of thread.

Step 7.

Using a hot glue gun, glue (1) group of friendship thread to the back right side of the “12 DAYS OF” wood stick. Hot glue the other group of friendship thread to the back left side of the “12 DAYS OF” wood stick.

Step 8.

Tape the “12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS” wood stick to a table. Begin braiding the first group of friendship thread until it’s about 3” long and then string on a silver jingle bell to whichever color thread is in the middle, then continue braiding. Continue this pattern every 3” until you are out of thread, then tie a knot in the bottom. Repeat this step on the other side.

Tip: Braiding is very simple. Separate your three colors.

  1. Cross the right section over the middle section. Pull tight. The right section is now the middle section.
  2. Cross the left section over the middle section. Pull tight. The left section is now the middle section.
  3. Continue crossing the right and left sections over the middle.

Be sure to keep your strings separated and taut so the braid does not come loose.

Step 9.

Once you are finished braiding and stringing on jingle bells to both sides, glue the (12) “days” sticks to the braid between the jingle bells. We did ours on angles to make a fun finished look!

Step 10.

Cut a green glitter stick in half and loop both sides into the middle, as shown.

Step 11.

Twist the two ends to the middle of glitter stick and pinch the loops so they come to a tip.

Step 12.

Glue on two small red glitter poms to add berries to your holly!

Step 13.

Glue the holly to every fourth wood stick.
