Button Crystal Dragonfly
Use crafting wire to create a beautiful crystal dragonfly to hang in the window and capture the sunlight!
Step 1. Gather your supplies.
Cut a 12” piece of craft wire.
Fold the piece of craft wire in half and stick each side through the two bottom holes of a large blue button. Twist the two pieces of wire together to secure.
Tip: Jewelry pliers are helpful in pulling the wire through the buttonholes.
Thread both wires through both holes of a medium button. Twist to secure.
Repeat Step 4 with another medium button, followed by two small buttons.
Thread (2) blue and (1) silver metallic pony bead on and then pull the wires apart, as shown.
Thread a small bi-‐cone faceted bead onto the end of each wire.
Using your fingers or jewelry pliers, curl the bi-‐cone beads into the silver pony bead.
Cut a 32” piece of wire and wrap it around the wire of the dragonfly’s body at the halfway point. There should be 16” of wire on each side of the body for the wings.
String on 22 large bi-‐cone crystal beads and form the beads into the shape of the top of a wing, as shown.
Thread the end of the wire from the top wing underneath the wire of the body and wrap it around once to secure.
String on 26 small bi-‐cone crystal beads and form into the shape of the bottom of the wing, as shown.
When all the beads are strung, wrap the end of the wire around the wire of the body of the dragonfly. Trim the excess.
Repeat Steps 10-‐13 for the other wing.
Cut a 6” piece of wire and fold, as shown.
Stick each side through the top buttonholes of the large blue button and twist to secure
Put a small bi-‐cone bead on the end of each wire and using your fingers or jewelry pliers, curl the bi-‐cone beads into the wire, as shown.
